Sheriff

The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer in the county and is responsible for enforcing the law, maintaining order, and running the county jail. The Sheriff’s office works with other law enforcement agencies to investigate crimes and arrest suspects. The Sheriff also oversees the county jail, ensuring that inmates are housed safely and securely. In addition, the Sheriff may provide security for county courthouses. The Sheriff is elected to a four-year term.
