Harris County Sheriff, Republican

The Office of Harris County Sheriff is held by the principal law enforcement officer for Harris County. The sheriff is responsible for maintaining custody of individuals committed to jail and supervising the jail system. The office furnishes court bailiffs, warrant officers, detective and investigation services, and, in unincorporated areas, patrol officers. Furthermore, the Harris County Sheriff provides on-site liaison at the Office of Emergency Management. The term of office for the Harris County Sheriff is four years.
