BACKGROUND: What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?

I've worked in education all of my adult like. In particular, I have been a supporter of San Jacinto College for the past 40 years. I coached and taught there, so I understand the community college mission. I am a leader, innovator, a worker.

ISSUES: What are the two most important issues affecting San Jacinto College? What measurable actions will you take to address them?

1. Offering programs/degrees that meet local business/industry needs. The college must continually seek input from our business/industry partners to provide their workforce needs.
2. Developing a "success lifestyle" approach to teaching and learning. Helping our students understand what it takes to be successful is key to their success. Setting goals, evaluating progress, celebrating achievements.

QUALITY AND AFFORDABILITY: What actions do you support to ensure quality education, while not increasing cost of attendance?

1. Hiring the best qualified faculty to ensure continued excellence.
2. Encouraging community partnerships to provide scholarships, the latest technology, internships, jobs.
3. Working with students on financial literacy.
4. Educating our state representatives concerning the value of community colleges and asking for continued funding
