Christina R. Edwards
Qualifications: What training, experience and characteristics qualify you for this position?
Christina Edwards brings a unique blend of education, experience, and leadership that makes her highly qualified for Position #3 on the Waller ISD Board of Trustees.

Professionally, my background spans government, technical, and legal sectors, giving me a well-rounded perspective on policy, compliance, and strategic planning. These skills are directly transferable to the work of a school board trustee, where understanding governance is essential
Opportunities: What opportunities for improvement do you identify in the District and how do you feel the Board should work towards those goals?
As a candidate for Position #3 on the Waller ISD Board of Trustees, Christina Edwards recognizes several key areas where Waller ISD can continue to grow and excel. One opportunity lies in strengthening the alignment between academic development and real-world readiness—ensuring our students are not only achieving academically, but also being equipped with the practical, social, and leadership skills needed to thrive beyond graduation.

Funding: What actions can the Board take to secure the financial future of the District? Specifically, are there any expenditures you feel should be examined as a cost-saving measure?

One of the key actions the Board can take is conducting regular, independent audits to evaluate the effectiveness of current spending. This allows the district to identify areas of redundancy, inefficiency, or underutilized resources. I support a line-by-line review of operational expenditures—including vendor contracts, technology spending, and administrative costs—to ensure alignment with district priorities.
Among other fresh ideas.
Supporting Teachers: What do you see as the most pressing issues facing teachers in the District? What actions can the Board take to better support and retain teachers?
• Professional Development and Advancement: Investing in meaningful, relevant professional development opportunities that empower teachers to grow in their craft and leadership potential.
• Workload and Support: Evaluating non-instructional demands placed on teachers and increasing classroom support—such as paraprofessionals, counselors, and behavioral specialists—to ensure teachers can focus on teaching.
• Teacher Voice in Decision-Making
Future Voters: Assess how the District prepares students to participate in their country’s democracy and describe what the Board can do to support civic engagement efforts.
• Integrating Civic Education Across Grade Levels: The district should ensure that civics, government, and U.S. history instruction are not only present but taught in an engaging and relevant way. Students should learn about voting, the Constitution, local government, and how their voices can make a difference.
• Supporting Student-Led Initiatives: Encourage programs such as student government, service-learning projects, and civic clubs.
