Over 30 years in business in SD 15 Community Development in SD 15 including the #1 business incubator, Houston Angel Investor Network, creation of the best of its kind at risk youth technology education program where students graduated HS with Fortune 500 jobs and college paid totally self sustaining, and 100's of companies and 1000's of jobs created that changed lives created urban renewal redeveloping marginalized and impoverished ares of several wards as well a vast array of other industries
Article 7 of the Texas Constitution states that “it shall be the duty of the Legislature of the State to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools.” What is your interpretation of what this clause requires of the legislature?
Working with all communities, establish basic standards and outcome based education for students in a safe and diverse learning environment and without restrictions that hold back or disenfranchise high performers and identify and compel lower performing students to best encourage their academic and competitive career and development. No school is "free" as your question states...all are tax payer funded, so, let's make the most for our invested tax dollars for the students outcomes.
How will you ensure that Texas remains a leader in the energy sector through innovation and reliability?
Texas was once the envy of the world in reliable and relatively cheap energy. In our family business we built about half the major power plants in Texas and a good portion of the grid. I know that business well. As an innovator, quantum leaps in on demand sustainable power technology are production ready and scaling which are real game changers with point of present power generation systems are non-destructive to the atom are proving out as my work in space systems micro power becomes vital.
What do you believe is the appropriate role of the State of Texas in ensuring that Texans have access to reproductive healthcare, family planning, and pregnancy care and postpartum services?
I would like to see healthy mothers and healthy babies and want to see mothers and babies have the best care from conception through birth for the best health for all. The job of the legislature is to provide guidelines and a safety net for at risk mothers and babies. This is best done in partnership with faith based organizations and charitable institutions with a proven positive track record. Recovery from childbirth is a different path for each mother we can and should keep improving.
What other issues are high priorities for the people of your district? Please give specific examples of measurable actions that you will take to address these issues.
We have a flood control problems involving Federal, state, county monies, road repair and open ditch drainage problems, HUGE power line management problems by Centerpoint Energy and a massive crime waive problem to list a few. The hurricane evacuation route from downtown to Greenspoint became a disaster all its own when those dollars were not deployed the county sued the state NOT to put in the life saving evacuation route. I want to clear all of that up for the SD 15 residents to save lives.
