What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?

My 33 years of public service at the State and local levels of municipalities, including over 20 years in school districts. In addition, my formal education in the areas of Finance (BBA and MBA) and Leadership (PhD) will aid me immensely in the role of Board of Trustee for the Haris County Department of Education.

What are the most pressing educational issues in Harris County and how do you plan to develop policies that address them?

Higher rates of joblessness translate into lower income, higher poverty rates and slower wealth accumulation for African American households. As a solution, I will trumpet the services that are provided by the Harris County Department of Education, specifically around Adult Education, including High School Equivalency and certification that will unlock the future.

How will you allocate resources so that early education, adult education, and special education services will all be successful?

As a member of the team of 8 charged with providing leadership for the Harris County Department of Education, I promise to collaboratively discuss and propose solutions to ensure the appropriate level of funding for early education, adult education, and special education programs.
