Caroline Kane

Republican
U.S. Representative District 7
Non-partisan election information about Caroline Kane, Candidate - U.S. Representative District 7 by the League of Women Voters of Houston
What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?
I am a small business owner and real estate investor who understands how to manage a team and a budget. I am a woman of the people and am all too familiar with the issues that are affecting the entire middle-class of America.
What actions do you support to address cost of living concerns?
Government spending needs to be checked by a zero-based budget and a decrease in centralized power.
What are your priorities regarding immigration policy? What specific actions would you take to address these priorities?
We need to immediately close the border and implement a 5-year immigration moratorium. No benefits to any illegal migrants.
What is the role of the federal government in establishing laws and regulations related to reproductive healthcare services including family planning, pregnancy care and post- partum services? Please explain your position.
I believe in the federal government only having those powers given expressly by the Constitution. All other matters are reserved for the states. Reproductive healthcare is not mentioned in the Constitution and should therefore be handled by the states, as recently confirmed by the Supreme Court in June of 2022.
What measures do you support to address environmental issues and natural disasters, such as air quality, extreme weather events, drought, and flooding?
I believe in the federal government only having those powers given expressly by the Constitution. All other matters are reserved for the states via the 10th amendment. Subsequently, the state governments should be charged with the handling of environmental issues and natural disasters. These are not legislative powers of the US Congress under Article I, Section 8.
