Opportunities: What opportunities for improvement do you identify in the District and how do you feel the Board should work towards those goals?
Opportunities for improvement include enhancing safety and security, supporting and improving auxiliary staff pay, and boosting community engagement. The Board should look at budgeting to fund these areas, advocate for state-level funding, and ensure transparent communication with parents and the community. By working collaboratively with educators and families, the Board can address these needs and strengthen the district for everyone.
Funding: What actions can the Board take to secure the financial future of the District? Specifically, are there any expenditures you feel should be examined as a cost-saving measure?
The Board can secure the district’s financial future by prioritizing responsible budgeting, maximizing state funding, and reviewing administrative costs. Key expenditures like contracts, energy use, and technology should be examined for savings. Investing in energy-efficient infrastructure and exploring public-private partnerships can reduce long-term costs, ensuring financial stability while maintaining a focus on student success.
Supporting Teachers: What do you see as the most pressing issues facing teachers in the District? What actions can the Board take to better support and retain teachers?
The most pressing issues for teachers are lack of classroom support, limited resources, and heavy workloads. The Board can better support and retain teachers by raising salaries, providing more classroom resources, and reducing administrative tasks. Additionally, giving teachers a voice in decision-making, offering professional development, and fostering a positive work environment are key actions to improve teacher retention and support.
Future Voters: Assess how the District prepares students to participate in their country’s democracy and describe what the Board can do to support civic engagement efforts.
The district prepares students for democracy through social studies, critical thinking, and community involvement. To boost civic engagement, the Board can support programs like mock elections, community service, and partnerships with local government. Expanding extracurriculars focused on leadership and citizenship will further help students understand and actively participate in their democracy.
