What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?
Prior to taking the bench in 2013 I practiced law for 15 years as a General Practitioner. I have served the citizens of Harris County as Judge of the 215th for 11.5 years. I have exhibited my judicial temperament by being efficient and fair to all litigants, attorneys and others who have appeared before me. I strive to be firm but fair and make sure there is a level playing field for the parties and attorneys that have matters in the 215th Civil District Court.
What will you do to promote the just, prompt, and affordable resolution of civil cases that come before your court?
I allow the parties to create their own Docket Control Orders so as to allow them to prepare their case for presentation to the trier of fact whether it’s to a jury or to the judge. This allows them to either resolve the matter prior to trial or proceed to trial giving the parties the ultimate control of their case.
What will you do to ensure that cases before your court are heard in a timely manner?
I allow the parties to control of their case meaning some case are very complicated and some are simplistic, by allowing the parties to create their own Docket Control Order which is their guide post of their case. This cuts down on the number of continuances requested.
